Pen pal letters to Grandparents/residents of Corner Stone

Our preschoolers started a pen pal project with their grandparents or a resident of Corner Stone in the month of December. So far we have sent two letters (and plan to send one each additional month that we are in school).

We started this project to show the preschoolers the importance of writing/reading and I'm sure our pen pals enjoy receiving letters (as much as we love doing it!). We do not expect pen pals to correspond with us (several pen pals are not physically able). When we do receive mail, only that student who receives it is able to view the mail with me (that way no one feels left out).

We have had a overwhelming positive response to our pen pal project (see letter below) and are planning a February letter soon.

Again, thank you for your contribution of the stamped letters!!
Jill

A letter from one of the residents at Cornerstone

Dear Jenna,

How are you, just fine I hope. I understand that you like school. I love to hear from you. My name is Clifford Arthur. I am old enough to be your great grandfather. I enjoy seeing your pictures. I bet you are a beautiful girl. I want to thank your teacher for letting you write to me. I am 78 years old and a friendly person. You and your teacher just made my day. Write again if you and your teacher want to. I enjoy hearing from you.

Thank you for your letter,

Clifford Arthur

I enjoy looking at your pictures.
