Welcome Parents!

Our new school year is fast approaching!
Here are a few important dates to remember:

• Tuesday, August 14th-Back to School Night at 6:00.  There will be a short informational PTO meeting in the Common's Area (the main entrance to the elementary building) there is more information regarding this on the school website; beginning at 7:00 parents will go to their child(rens) classroom(s) to meet the teacher and hear expectations for the school year (there will be 2 sessions that last 15 minutes).
• Thursday, August 16th-first day for TuTh preschoolers!  Our session times are:  7:55 (arrival as early as 7:40)-10:15/12:45 (arrival as early 12:30)-3:15.
• Friday, August 17th-first day for the MWF preschoolers!  Our session times are:  7:55 (arrival as early as 7:40)-10:45/12:15 (12:00)-3:15.
• Friday, August 24th-School picture day.  MWF sessions will attend together as a class.  If you have a TuTh preschooler and would like to have their school picture taken (this will be published in a school yearbook) you may wait until the picture re-take day scheduled for Thursday, October 18th (we would attend this as a class) or you may bring your preschooler to the school August 24th.  You would have an opportunity either at 8:00 am or 12:30 pm (please look for additional information from me closer to the date to confirm times).

What you might need to know:

• To drop off your preschooler-you will need to enter the main doors and bring your preschooler to our classroom (some preschoolers are able to do this on their own later in the school year-this is completely your decision!!).
• Pick up is outside the southwest doors (by the circle drive).  If it is raining or in the winter-extremely cold, we may be right inside the doors and will watch for you.
• TuTh preschool parents are highly recommended to place a change of clothes inside their child's backpack...just in case :).  MWF parents-better to be safe than sorry; but this is your decision.  We will keep these clothes inside their backpack unless needed.
• Dress code is anything BUT -all shoes must have a back strap (like crocs) tennis shoes are great as well!  Please encourage your preschoolers to wear comfortable, play clothes-we're here to have fun while we learn!

Save the Date!

Monday, May 21st:  MWF Graduation in the Common's Area of the Elementary School.  Both classes will attend together in the morning.  Please bring your preschooler to our room anytime between 7:40-7:55.  Our celebration will start at 8:15 and will be over ~9:00 (including a small reception).  This will be the last day of school for the MWF classes.


Tuesday, May 22nd:  TuTh Last Day.  Classes will attend their regular preschool times.  We will have games and ice cream treats.


May 23rd and May 24th:  No Preschool.  These days are reserved for visit times for new, incoming preschoolers.

Our New Preschool Picture

This picture was painted by a girl named Akiane Kramarik (pronounced AH-KEE-AHNA).  When Akiane painted this picture she was 8 years old.  What is even more incredible than her age is that she was born into a family where her Lithuanian mother was atheist.  The concept of God was never discussed in their home. The family did not watch televison, and Akiane didn't attend any kind of preschool where she could gain outside education.  Akiane started to tell her mother stories of heaven at a very young age, then at age 4 she began to draw-she had a life-changing spiritual transformation and brought the entire family to God.  At age 6, she began painting.

This picture is also mentioned in the book, Heaven is For Real, by Todd Burpo.  The book is about a little boy who dies.  He returns to life to tell his father, who is a preacher, all about heaven, including what Jesus looks like.  The father and son have a game that they played, where the father asks, "What's wrong with this picture of Jesus?".  The son always has an answer, such as, "His hair is too long, or His eyes are not right."  Until...this picture.  The son sees this picture and says, "That's Him! That's what Jesus looks like!"

Butterfly News

Four of the six caterpillars survived and have successfully made their chrysalides!  We will anxiously await their winged arrivals! We'll keep you updated...

Friday, April 22nd:  One of the butterflies emerged from their chrysalis today!

Monday, April 25th:  Two more!  Still waiting on the fourth.  I've been feeding them watermelon and pineapple slices. 

Tuesday, April 26th:  The last one came out today..too cold to let the butterfly go in the morning.  The afternoon class let their butterfly go in the afternoon!!  Bye, butterfly!

Thursday, April 28th:  The morning class let their butterfly go!

Friday, April 29th:  The last two butterflies were released today by the morning and afternoon classes..they grow up and fly away so soon!!
